Bernard Breiter and the B-24 "Lil' Audrey"

Author contact information

I am Gene Chropkowski, great-nephew of  Barney Breiter.  I received my uncle's war effects after his passing. My wife and I got to visit him in Florida a few weeks before he died.  It was the first time he had met my wife.

We live in St. Louis, Missouri.  You can contact me at:

I haven't been able to locate a living member of the Pouls crew as of November, 2009.
In June, 2009, I sent out a letter including a copy of the "autographed" crew picture to the last known contact I had for each crew member.
Only the relatives of Tech Sergeant Lloyd Rainbolt responded.

I would appreciate any additions or corrections you have to the website.

Crew families

I can confirm that Lloyd Rainbolt/Engineer, of Eminence, MO passed away in 1999.
I've been in contact with his son Will, who also resides in St. Louis, MO.
He apparently has some war artifacts and we hope to meet him sometime in the future.

A Stephen J. Coffey died in Hampton,  NH in June, 2007.  He was an Air Force Lietenant Colonel with 31 years service, retiring in 1973.
I haven't had a response from any family.

A Francis Pouls passed away in 2007 in Santa Cruz, CA.  I haven't been able to confirm this with family members.
